Bella Thorne Opens Up About Her Sexual Abuse Filled Childhood

Disney star, Bella Thorne, 20, has joined the number of people campaigning for #TimesUp as she opens up in an emotional post.

The singer and actress shared her personal experience on sexual harassment and molestation on her Instagram page with the caption,  

“I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14..when I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it. All damn night. Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again. Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did,”

Thorne didn’t name who her abuser was, but was sure to point out how lucky she is as she concluded her post, “But some of us aren’t as lucky to get out alive. Please today stand up for every soul Mistreated. #timesup.”

She also shared a similar post on Twitter that read, ‘I never knew what was right or wrong growing up..I didn’t know the person sneaking into my bed room at night was a bad person.’

The Shake It Up star received lots of support from her fans and followers who praised the star for her honesty. Some fans even shared their own experience. 

She also encouraged her fans to stay strong and continue sharing their experiences.
Bella previously admitted to being amolested when a Twitter troll asked ‘What did Disney do to this girl?! I think she was molested.’

She tweeted in response: ‘Yeah I was. So it wasn’t Disney.’

Bella Thorne who lost her dad in a traffic accident when she was nine and was raised by her mum, got her big break in Disney show ‘Shake It Up’ in 2010, going on to forge a successful career across film and TV, including roles in 2015’s The DUFF and Blended opposite Adam Sandler.
